KP-60/KP-60A Cam 536K06
This cam component (part number 536K06) is an OEM-specified part for the KUPA KP-60 / KP-60A (and possibly compatible KP-series) handpieces. It serves a key mechanical role in the collet/chuck mechanism — the cam acts as the interface that allows the ball bearings (cam balls) to engage and release the collet mechanism when changing bits.
Features
-
Ensures correct and smooth operation of the collet/chuck mechanism, which prevents bit slippage and improves operator safety.
-
Replacing a worn or damaged cam can reduce bit-wobble or chuck failure, thereby preserving the performance and longevity of the handpiece.
-
Using the correct OEM part helps maintain fit, alignment and expected tolerances in precision handpieces like the KP-60/KP-60A.
-
Relatively inexpensive maintenance item compared to major assemblies — replacing this cam can save significant downtime or repair cost.
- Dimensions: OD ~ 12.61 mm (0.49″) | ID ~ 6.64 mm (0.26″) | Thickness ~ 4 mm (0.16″).
Installation Tips
-
Confirm your specific handpiece revision uses part # 536K06 (some older or different models may use a different cam design).
-
Inspect the existing cam area for wear, damage or missing cam balls; if these are compromised, installing only the cam may not restore full function.
-
Unplug the handpiece and ensure it is fully stopped before disassembly.
-
Remove the collet/chuck and front nose housing to access the cam mechanism.
-
Remove the old cam, clean out any debris, metal shavings or lubricant in the cam ball area.
-
Install the new 536K06 cam, ensuring correct orientation and that the cam-balls and corresponding pockets are aligned.
-
Re-assemble the handpiece and test under a no-bit (unloaded) condition to verify that the collet/clamp mechanism operates smoothly and without excessive play.
